COURSE 1: FOR DATABASE MANAGERS AND PROGRAMMERS NEW TO FILEPRO
This course is designed to serve those people responsible for managing a database for their company, and for programmers new to filePro.
Each student works with an IBM laptop on our training network with a SCO Unix Server. Each student has a dedicated filePro database with which to create the filePro elements as they are learning them. Student work can be printed as well as displayed on the main teaching screen, to discuss techniques and results obtained.

For Systems Administrators, Programmers and Users who have limited familiarity with filePro.
Class Description -
This course covers an introduction to the concepts of database managers in general and filePro specifically. It teaches the "big picture" of filePro. It goes into detail on filePro's structure and organization. Maintenance and creation of maps and screens are taught, as as well as indexes and Inquire, Update, Add into the filePro database. A laboratory project is begun, with each student creating and updating a database with screens and indexes.
Prerequisites: Some Familiarity with filePro or programming.
For System Administrators, programmers and users who provide filePro maintenance and enhancements and have mastered the fundamentals of filePro.
Class Description
Following a quiz and review of day 1, this course covers design of output formats, request output processing, and menus. Laboratory work continues on the database started Monday. Output formats are created and maintained. Menus are created. Reports are printed.
Prerequisites: Fundamental filePro
For Systems Administrators and Programmers who are required to maintain and enhance databases for their organizations.
Class Description
Following a quiz and brief review, this course covers printing management; environmental variables; termcaps and terminal management; PC terminal emulators and graphical interfaces; OS relations; and Import and Export from filePro. Laboratory projects continue, using these features.
Prerequisites: Intermediate filePro
For Systems Administrators and Programmers who are required to maintain and enhance databases for their organizations.
Class Description
Following a quiz and brief review, this class covers the concepts of filePro programming. The class covers: types of tables; table names; parts of a line of code; documentation techniques; editing and coding tools; field types including dummy fields and long-name fields; processing commands, functions and techniques; date math; and more. Automatic tables and input tables are taught. The laboratory project continues with students programming input tables for their databases.
Prerequisites: Intermediate filePro training, or equivalent skills.
