Inventory
Control Module
Overview
The Inventory Control Module tracks product usage
and costs, and maintains inventory at optimum levels. Complete
information is available about the value of inventory, quantities on
hand, quantities committed, and the flow of inventory items. Inventory Control handles multiple
warehouses. Items can be
transferred from one warehouse to another. Inventory can be
tracked for each item in each warehouse. WorkLineTM tracks
quantities sold, returned, and used up to 12 prior periods.
Each warehouse for an item has it's own reorder level, stocking
location, and historical statistics.
STN has developed unique procedures that permit
trucks to be treated as warehouses. Inventory stock can,
therefore, be carried on a truck and still be controlled.
STN has several methods for handling 1) accountable
stock, 2) bulk stock, and 3) bench stock. Each of these
requires different procedures and methods of handling and
accounting. WorkLineTM uniquely gives you choices in how you
wish to account for these materials. Inventory can be valuated
by either LIFO (Last In First Out), FIFO (First In First Out),
Average, or a modified Standard Cost Method.
Inventory item information can be entered, edited,
and printed. An item is identified by a 15 character item
number, and up to eight different 20 character bar code
numbers. These numbers can be used for lookup anywhere in the
system. In addition, you can assign each item a stocking unit,
pricing unit and conversion factor, bin or floor location, an ABC
code for analysis, last sale data, and a code to indicate whether
backorders are allowed. Up to eight alternate numbers can be
entered for an item.
Unlimited pages of notes may be defined for an
item. Vendor record information is also entered, including
vendor number, product number, minimum order, and lead time.
Customized item labels can be printed for some or all items, in
order by item number, item description, or item location.
The Inventory Transaction file offers easy
data-entry of issues and credits to a work order, transfers to a
warehouse, and regular adjustments to inventory. Issue and
Transfer receipts are printed and signed. Inventory
transactions can also be imported from a hand-held bar code reader.
An Inventory Transaction Edit List - either in a
long or short form - can be printed to ensure that transactions were
entered correctly. The Inventory Transaction Register provides
a paper audit trail and is automatically printed when transactions
are finalized.
A streamlined physical count process is provided in
WorkLineTM. In addition, physical counts can be imported from a
hand-held barcode reader. Variances can be reported and posted
automatically.
Inventory Control offers multiple reports to help
manage inventory. These include:
